This year’s edition of the Krakow Film Festival is already setting new records, with 2,500 entries - that’s the most the festival has seen in its 64-year-long history. This is hardly surprising, as the Krakow event can become a stepping stone to an international career - it is the only festival in Poland that qualifies for an Academy Award in the ‘feature-length documentary’ and ‘short film’ categories. Out of all the entries, the Jury selected close to 200 films from all over the world, including 100 world and Polish releases. Some of them will be presented in four parallel competitions - three international competitions for documentaries, short films and DocFilmMusic, as well as a Polish film contest. All the other films will be shown in other streams, including Focus on Romania, Docs+Science, Polish Documentary Panorama and Kids&Youth. Youth Cinema, as well as special screenings. Kraków cinemas will offer screenings of heavy Swedish documentaries (The Andersson Brothers, dir. Johanna Bernhardson), films on the relationship of science and art (Close to Vermeer, dir. Suzanne Raes), tales from the queer side of Berlin (Teaches of Peaches, dir. Philipp Fussenegger, Judy Landkammer) and the image of Russia in the context of war in Ukraine (Intercepted, dir. Oksana Karpovych); we will also take a closer look at Romania (Arsenie. An Amazing Afterlife, dir. Alexandru Solomon). The festival will end with the world premiere of Małgorzata Szumowska and Michał Englert's film All Inclusive, showcasing a panorama of Polish characters on holiday in Morocco.
