The Kraków Philharmonic celebrates the 80th annniversary of the death of Saint Maksymilian Maria Kolbe at the Nazi Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp with a concert featuring Mass in F major by Józef Michał Ksawery Poniatowski (1816-1873), singer, diplomat and a vivid patriot. The Mass was composed in 1867 for the Dom Luís I, king of Portugal. It had been considered lost for more then a hundred years until it was found by the members of the Association of Polish in the library of the British Museum and restored to the contemporary audience. It has become a symbol of the communication between the generations.
