“Watercolor is a very difficult painting technique. Extremely rich in possibilities arising from its greatest advantage: the transparency of paints not covering the underpainting, regardless of its type: silk, canvas, and finally a variety of watercolor papers, smooth, textured – rough, white, creamy, with visible and invisible cotton fiber. The technique of painting with watercolors can be enriched with various formal means: sand grains or salt thrown onto wet paper, masking fluid, scraping off paint, rinsing paint with a brush, or, as Emil Nolde did – allowing raindrops or snowflakes to fall on the watercolor while painting, or using a feather and ink to emphasize the architecture. I was particularly enchanted by Krzysztof Ludwin’s watercolors praising the beauty of Krakow, not only its flagship monuments but also the forgotten nooks of old Kazimierz, and importantly, poetically described by Ludwin…” (Zbigniew Kazimierz Witek,President of the Society of Friends of Fine Arts in Krakow Krakow, August 2022)
