"Another exile" is an intimate portrait of Ester Singer Kreitman created by her son. Carr retells the story of his mother as he remembered her during his formative youth to young adulthood.
Along with family stories and biographical information, Carr includes the stories of Kreitman’s failed marriage, continuous attempts to become closer with the Singer family and the continuous "exiles" Kreitman faced. Constantly presenting more information on these fascinating snapshots in time of the Jewish community in London, bohemian Paris, and most importantly the society of Jewish authors in the interwar period in a summer resort in Świder, Poland. That's where the most fascinating fragments can be found, as this was when Carr had a chance to meet his famous uncles, Isaac Bashevis and Joshua Singers.Maurice Carr (born 1913 in Antwerp, died 2003 in Paris) was a writer, essayist, translator, journalist, and son of Ester Singer Kreitman and nephew of writers Israel Joshua and Isaac Bashevis Singers. Carr was a Parisian correspondent for the Ruters agency and editor of "Izrael Magazine". As a journalist he worked for BBC, Daily Telegraph, The Jerusalem Post, Maariv, Haaretz and Commentary Magazine among many others.
