This year’s summer programme of the Tyniec Organ Recitals at the Benedictine Abbey will be filled, above all, with the achievements of the masters of old. Marcin Szelest will draw on tablature from the 16th and 17th centuries; Michał Kopyciński will revisit the works of Mikołaj of Krakow, a Renaissance composer whose existence is attested only by compositions signed with his initials; and Andrzej Turek will present works by the great Johann Sebastian Bach, Nicolaus Bruhns and Vincent Lübeck. Jerzy Kukla will also open his concert with Bach’s famous Toccata and Fugue in D minor, though he will enrich the Baroque polyphony with preludes by Władysław Żeleński and an organ transcription of Finland, Jean Sibelius’s famous symphonic poem. The ‘king of instruments’ will be accompanied by: the violin (Zbigniew Pilch), the viola (Maria Shetty), the trombone (Wojciech Kopyciński) and the accordion (Wacław Turek).
