Perfection can be achieved at any age, which is why Sinfonietta Cracovia is inviting the youngest generation of professional musicians to collaborate. Bottesini's Double Bass Concerto No. 2 in B minor will feature Marc André, born in 2002, one of the few classical double bassists who traded the shadows of an orchestra for a solo career. The orchestra will be conducted by Katarzyna Marek, a participant in the National Institute of Music and Dance's Conductor-in-Residence programme, which provides outstanding artists at the beginning of their careers with the opportunity to collaborate with professional orchestras and esteemed mentors. As assistant conductor, Katarzyna Marek has participated in preparing three concerts for the Kraków ensemble this season; now, for the first time, she will lead it herself. In addition to Bottesini's Concerto, she will conduct Karłowicz's Serenade for string orchestra and Beethoven's Symphony No. 4 in B-flat major. Fingers crossed!
