This year’s conference, Jan Nepomucen Bobrowicz Days, organised by the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków, is held under the banner Rule Britannia!, dedicated to guitar music from the British Isles. We will hear British music from a broad historical, stylistic, and repertoire perspective, including Renaissance and Baroque, Classical, and contemporary works.
The three-day conference will feature a wealth of artistic and scholarly events, including solo and chamber music concerts, lectures, master classes, and an instrument exhibition. An international - luthier conference with instrument presentations will also be held. The invited guests include: Zoran Dukić (Croatia), Carlo Marchione (Italy), Martin Miterrutzner (Austria), Martin Wesely (Austria), Małgorzata Żegleń-Włodarczyk, Miłosz Mączyński, Sławomir Cierpik, Anna Wiktoria Swoboda, Maria Korzeniowska, Aleksander Mocek, Agnieszka Światkowska, Katarzyna Czubek.
The patron of the Jan Nepomucen Bobrowicz Days was a 19th-century Polish virtuoso guitarist, composer, music editor, and publisher, called by Franz Liszt “the Chopin of guitar”, who was born in Kraków.
