Eight strings and two bows will be the highlights of the 5th A due Duo Festival dedicated to chamber music in its most intimate form. Duets for two violins and for violin and viola will be performed by teachers and students of the Kraków Academy of Music. Their concerts will juxtapose classical string duos with rarely performed 20th century compositions, a programme built around folk and contemporary music, and a wide variety of compositions by diverse composers, from Haydn to Igudesman. It will all culminate with Johan Halvorsen's striking Passacaglia - one of the most famous duos for violin and viola. The festival's finale will be a showdown of the concertmasters: Daniel Stabrawa, who held this position in the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra for many years, and Piotr Tarcholik, first violinist of the NOSPR. The two master violinists will perform Wajnberg's Sonata and Haydn's Duets, and the concert programme will be rounded off by Three Madrigals for violin and viola, in which Daniel Stabrawa will be accompanied by Dawid Jadamus, violist of the Katowice ensemble.
