Michał Pietrzak – born in Bystrzyca Kłodzka, he lives and works in Wrocław. He holds a PhD in art. He graduated from the Faculty of Graphics and Media Art of the Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław, the College of Photography in Jelenia Góra, and the Faculty of Architecture of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology. He is the recipient of the Professor Witold Skulicz Award at the International Print Triennial in Kraków and a scholarship from the
Lower Silesian Voivodeship. He was also recognized in the ZPAP Wrocław “Award of the Year” competition and awarded the Honorary Badge “Meritorious for the Lower Silesian Voivodeship.” An artist, architect, and educator, he serves as the President of the Lower Silesian Division of the Association of Polish Art Photographers and is a member of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers. He has presented his work many times in Poland and abroad in solo and group exhibitions and in numerous publications. His works are held in the collections of the National Museum in Wrocław, he International Print Triennial Society in
Kraków, In Situ Contemporary Art Foundation, the City of Wrocław, and in private collections. His works are a search for a kind of compromise between purely conceptual and formal means of artistic expression, which for him are equivalent. In his works, he goes far beyond the boundaries of classically understood photography. He treats it instrumentally, combining it with other media to enhance his images with the sublime multidimensionality of space and time.
