Jerzy Katlewicz, conductor and teacher, was associated with the Kraków Philharmonic as its long-term Artistic Director, first conductor and later also its Director General. For decades he taught a conducting class at the Kraków Academy of Music. He was the originator of the Capella Cracoviensis ensemble and became famous for his outstanding interpretations of the works by Krzysztof Penderecki. He was the first to work on the performances of compositions by Henryk Mikołaj Górecki, Zbigniew Bujarski and Marek Stachowski, among other artists. During the musical memorial on the 10th anniversary of the death of the artist who had had an immense impact on Polish and Kraków culture, we will listen to Mozart’s Symphony in G minor No. 40 and Requiem in D minor. The Symphony Orchestra and Choir of the Academy of Music will be led by the professor’s former students: Paweł Przytocki and Rafał Jacek Delekta.
