For more than 30 years, the Audio Art Festival has provided numerous opportunities to experience the most important sound art and contemporary music projects from around the world. Visual elements also often play an important role in the works on display, and some unusual activities hardly lend themselves to classification. The events of this year’s edition will take place not only in familiar locations – such as the premises of the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music and the Bunker of Art Gallery, but also in the recently opened Wesoła Immersive space. The former hospital kitchen building on Kopernika Street will house installations concerned with issues such as the climate crisis or sound activism, which combine image and sound with the landscape. The building will also host concerts with flutes, electronic music, drums, objects and a performance dedicated to the verbosity of trees, and the relationship between technology and nature will be the main theme of an installation located next door in Design Pharmacy. Each of the approximately 30 projects included in the festival programme tells its own story. In addition to ‘traditional’ drone music or prepared piano, the audience will listen to, for example… an elegant suit equipped with samplers and amplifiers. (Bartosz Suchecki, Karnet 11/2025)
