This year’s festival is special, as it begins exactly on the 30th anniversary of the death of its patron, the Kraków virtuoso, pedagogue and composer. In the opening recital, Jakub Kapała will play compositions by Léon Boëllmann and Eugène Gigout. There will be more French music from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries in the programme, as it is also a source of inspiration for Dariusz Bąkowski-Kois and Ines Maidre; moreover, a particularly rich selection (Clausmann, Saint-Saëns, Gigout, Guilmant, Jacob) will be brought to life in a concert by Petra Veenswijk, organist at Maria van Jesse Church in Delft, the Netherlands. Vocal and organ works will be performed by Joseph Lia and Marcin Kucharczyk – the baritone from Malta will sing arias from Bach’s Magnificat, Mendelssohn’s oratorio Elijah and Handel’s opera Serse (the famous Ombra mai fù!). Romantic music from Saxony will be evoked by Albrecht Koch, who is closely associated with the region, while the works of the early masters from the 16th and 17th centuries will be performed by Małgorzata Trzaskalik-Wyrwa, who will play on the newly reconstructed Renaissance organ in Tyniec. Apart from this Benedictine abbey, the festival will also take place at the Carmelite Basilica, the Church of St Stephen, the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Dominican Basilica and the Church of St Anne.

Admission free to all concerts.
