‘And having taken from his head the imperial diadem, he put it on Bolesław's head as a token of alliance and friendship’ was how Gallus Anonymus described Emperor Otto III anointing Bolesław I the Brave as king of Poland in 1000. The official coronation in Gniezno Cathedral took place in the year 1025 – the date which we recognise as the beginning of the Polish Kingdom. These events will be commemorated by the Polish Chronicle 1025–2025 – a colourful parade and an outdoor spectacle. First, a parade of historical figures, played by KTO Theatre actors, extras, members of re-enactment groups, stilt walkers and jugglers dressed in costumes from various eras, will walk from the Barbican, along Floriańska Street to the Main Market Square (from the Town Hall Tower). There, you can watch various events from Polish history described in old chronicles bought to life on ten mobile stages. The viewers will also watch a short performance inspired by Jan Kochanowski's drama The Dismissal of the Greek Envoys. The script for the spectacle was written by Bronisław Maj and Jerzy Zoń. Polish Chronicle 1025–2025 constitutes part of the celebrations of the Millennium of the Polish Kingdom.
