Millennium Docs Against Gravity (the second largest documentary film festival in Europe) is an event that keeps its finger on the pulse – it has been presented films addressing the problems and threats of the contemporary world for years. Six of the most interesting titles screened at the festival will appear on the screen of the Pod Baranami Cinema in May. The programme includes, e.g., Ernest Cole: Lost and Found (dir. Raoul Peck) about the life and work of one of South Africa’s first independent black photographers documenting the brutality of apartheid, Mr Nobody against Putin (dir. David Borenstein, Pavel Talankin) about a teacher from the Urals facing the militarisation of schools, and Riefenstahl (dir. Andres Veiel) about a cinema genius in the service of Nazi propaganda in the context of manipulation and misinformation that is now rampant in the media and the internet. Selected films will be screened with English subtitles.
