In the old days, the rhythm of life was determined by nature. And although it is somewhat forgotten in the city, the symbolism of the shortest night of the year still works on the imagination. Wianki in Krakow combines the past and modern times – the From Dawn till Dawn programme will include the weaving and floating of garlands, galley cruises, herbal workshops and soothing walks. Friday’s silent disco in front of Galeria Kazimierz (Eltron, Kacha) will be a prelude to the celebrations. On Saturday, the sounds of instruments will fill the area around the Market Square: young artists selected in the Uliczne Granie programme will perform in the Planty squares, Slavic melodies will flow from the gazebo, and the electronic music of the Swawola People collective will resound in the Barbican. The main concert featuring the band Sorry Boys, Dawid Tyszkowski and the Projekt WOW (Waligóra, Odoszewski, Wolas) will take place at the Wielkiej Armii Napoleona Square in the Powiśle district. After dark, the time for more silent disco will come (The Very Polish Cut Outs, Rusałka), and at night the party will move to the Poczta Główna, Piękny Pies and Sekta Selekta clubs. The musical culmination of Wianki will be a concert at dawn on the bank of the Vistula, prepared together with the EtnoKraków/Crossroads festival. Its organisers will also offer a number of attractions in the Wesoła district.
