If the Mastercard OFF CAMERA festival were a person, it would have come of age this year! The 18th edition will not lack the elements that have been the core of the event for years: the international main competition 'Making Way' (for the Andrzej Wajda Krakow Film Award) and the Polish Feature Film Competition. Other regular highlights of the programme include the 'American Independents' (bold pictures from overseas) and 'Festival Hits' sections (productions awarded at the world's most important film events): on the cinema screen we will see, among others, The Good One (dir. India Donaldson) or Meanwhile on Earth (dir. Jeremy Clapin). Socially relevant topics will be addressed in four new thematic sections: ‘Boy Stuff’ about an attempt to redefine ossified cultural norms about masculinity (Baby, dir. Marcelo Caetano), 'Stay Cool' around mental health issues (Andrea Gets a Divorce, dir. Josef Hader), ‘Love Will Win’ about various forms of falling in love (The Shameless, dir. Konstantin Bojanov) and 'An Eye for an Eye' about restitution and revenge (In the Name of Blood, dir. Akaki Popkhadze). The film feast in Krakow's studio cinemas will be complemented by meetings with directors and actors, workshops or discussions. We wish the organisers further brave and uncompromising editions of the festival – at least a hundred!
