In the work of the Madrid-based Turkish artist, Orient meets flamenco, and bolero from Mexico and Cuba meet the sensual rhythms of the Bosphorus. The artist was educated in Istanbul, where she played classical music on the oboe and English horn. In search of freedom from the rigid framework of the Turkish educational system, she entered the prestigious American Berklee College of Music and fell into the tender embrace of jazz. She also began singing in the USA and enriched her beloved Turkish and Azeri folk songs with inspirations from Latin culture.
