The International Literature Festival Odesa will be hosted by Kraków this year. Organised in Ukraine's third most populous city since 2015 due to the ongoing war in the country, the event has become a touring project in recent years (it was previously hosted in Batumi and Bucharest). The festival will open with the world premiere of Daniel Glaus’s composition (commissioned by the festival) inspired by Ukrainian poetry, performed by mezzo-soprano Christina Daletska and the Contemporary Ensemble Music Cooperative (in the Main Building of the National Museum of Kraków). Ukrainian literature will be the undisputed protagonist of the festival – we will meet writers Andrei Kurkov, Yuriy Andrukhovych or Sofiya Andrukhovych, and we will be introduced to the works of poets from across the eastern border as part of the World Reading of Ukrainian Literature initiative. The festival guests will also include: Judith Hermann (Germany), J.S. Margot (Belgium), Robert Menasse (Austria), Radu Vancu (Romania), Santiago Roncagliolo (Peru/Spain), Pieter van Os (Netherlands) or Paavo Matsin (Estonia). In addition, there will also strong Polish accents in the form of interviews with Andrzej Stasiuk, Urszula Honek, Klementyna Suchanow, Jakub Małecki and others.
