This year, the poster of the Krakow Comics Festival is inspired by Neon Genesis Evangelion on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the first release of Hideaki Anno’s cult anime. Themes drawn from the series, which tells the story of the world after a global catastrophe allegedly caused by a meteor, will be the focus of the 14th edition of the event (the festival conversations will also feature other anniversary topics: the 30th birthday of Gwidon created by Slawomir Kiełbus for the weekly magazine Angorka and the 80th anniversary of the Świerszczyk children’s magazine). This exhibition devoted to the multi-layered story of the Evangelions and their pilots at the Museum of Comics will inaugurate the Krakow comics festival (opening on 27th June). The second exhibition opening the festival at the UKEN Institute of Art and Design's Podbrzezie Gallery will focus on alternative ways of experiencing comics based on diversity and exclusion (opening on 27th June). Among the festival guests were comic authors from Spain, Italy or Germany, including Miguel Vila, Silvio Camboni, Katharina Greve or Donald Soffritti. The representation of Polish authors is also strong – we will meet, among others, Anna Poszepczyńska, Piotr Nowacki, Paweł Dybała, Paweł Majka, Marta Krajewska, Karolina Margiel, Nikola Kucharska, Tomasz Spell and Julia Pecio. The festival time will be filled with lectures (total duration: 12 hours!) prepared by experts, science promoters and lecturers, including Mikołaj Kołyszka, Unka Odya, Dawid Głódź and Wojciech Nelec. Comic book novelties and niche publications can be found in the fair section of the event.
