The October symphonic Concerts at the Kraków Philharmonic will be a reminiscence of Andrzej Markowski (1924–1986), initiator and artistic director (in the years 1966–1977) of the Wratislavia Cantans Festival, a tireless promoter of Polish contemporary music and composer of soundtracks to more than 35 short and feature films directed by Andrzej Wajda, Jerzy Hoffman, Andrzej Munk, Walerian Borowczyk, Jan Lenica and Tadeusz Makarczyński, among others.

The soloist of the evening will be Frank Peter Zimmermann (in Schumann’s Violin Concerto in D minor), widely recognised as one of the foremost violinists of his generation, and the Kraków Philharmonic Orchestra will be led by Maestro Łukasz Borowicz.
