The Kraków Opera Ballet’s latest production Gershwin... in Blue, choreographed and directed by Jarosław Staniek, poses painfully topical questions. In an age lit up by blue screens of computers and smartphones, is there still room for real emotion? Is romantic love possible, or has it become just an Internet meme? Told by dance, the story on the borderline between dream and reality leads the main character, like an American in Paris, through big city adventures to waking up in a cold and lonely future where feelings exist only online. References to George Gershwin are not coincidental – the musical layer of the performance is built on the American artist’s compositions performed by the Kraków Opera Orchestra.
