In September, we are celebrating Stanisław Lem's birthday during the cultural and scientific Futurological Congress. Talks by scientists, literary scholars and philosophers will focus on education, digital media and games, cybernetics, physics and astronomy or sustainable development. There will be a discussion on literary topics: the prose of masters of Polish science fiction and its impact on authors and readers today, bold visions of the future in science fiction books and the chances of their fulfilment, literary depictions of journeys to the moon and other areas of outer space, as well as translation problems (using Stanisław Lem's neologisms as an example). The celebration of the Czesław Miłosz Year will be an opportunity to discussThe Mountains of Parnassus, the only science fiction novel by the Nobel Prize winner.
