Sinfonietta Cracovia is mostly associated with orchestral music of the 19th and 20th centuries, it is rarely to be heard in the classical operatic repertoire. Nevertheless, the orchestra led by Katarzyna Tomala-Jedynak as the artistic director likes to surprise the audiences. That’s why this time the concert programme has been composed of arias and overtures penned by famous opera composers of the 18th and 19th centuries, such as Handel, Gluck, Mozart, Verdi, Dvořák, Saint-Saëns, Puccini, Mascagni… The solo part in the concert will be sung by Polish soprano Marcelina Román. With this concert, the Sinfonietta Cracovia orchestra closes its artistic season 2023/2024.
