Imagination, information, space - the main themes of last years’ editions clearly show what kind of event you can expect. It explores both the surrounding reality, and lets you look deeper into yourself. The Copernicus Festival inspires experts dealing with culture and science to talk, bringing their environments together. This year, the six days will focus on Machine. And while such a theme suggests a reflection on the development of technology, the machine metaphor can also apply to humans, to the brain, to society...

Festival guests such as Lars Chittka, a zoologist who studies cognitive processes in animals, Thomas Plummer, an anthropologist specialising in the study of the oldest tools used by our ancestors, Dominika Dudek, an expert in treating depression and bipolar disorder, and Piotr Durka, a pioneer in brain-computer interface research, will attempt to answer questions about the relationship between humans and machines, algorithms and artificial intelligence. The 'Confrontations' programme will delve into the mysteries of the universe with Marek Kus and Karol Życzkowski, we will talk about cells and their functional similarity to machines with Łukasz Opaliński and Mariusz Gogol, we will search for life in space with Marcin Gawroński and Anna Łosiak, while Jan K. Argasiński and Katarzyna Jasko will present visions of the development of artificial intelligence. We are looking forward to exhibitions, workshops, film screenings, the 'Breakfast of Champions' series, in which prominent academics and cultural personalities talk about their passions, as well as the Smart Book of the Year competition gala. It is going to be interesting!
