A concert of Ladino songs, which are typical for the musical culture of Sephardic Jews, the cultural heirs to Jews who were expelled from Spain and Portugal in the 15th century.

These songs have a strong influence of Spanish, Arabic, Greek, and Balkan music. They are lively, full of expressive sound, as well as nostalgic and melancholic. They remind us of a South-European aura mixed with Oriental style.

The songs of Sephardic Jews are fascinating not only for their sound, but also for the history of the people who created and performed them. The fates of expelled ancestors are inscribed in these songs – yet, even though outcast, they kept their language and the specifics of their culture.

The band:
Urszula Makosz – vocals
Paweł Pierzchała – piano
Krzysztof Cyran – guitar
Michael Jones – violin, viola, djembe, ravanhuta
Sławek Berny – percussion

Tickets: 50 zł (pre-sale), 60 zł (on the day of the concert)
Tickets available for purchase at the Galicia Jewish Museum reception desk and online.
