Music of the Italian and French Baroque were different from each other, quite the opposites. France, valuing delicacy, sophistication of ornaments and texture in its music, was confronted with Italian music full of virtuosity and fire. Both, however, conquered Europe. The programme From Rome to Versailles of the Illusion Baroque ensemble brings them together with works by Rameau, Corelli, Tartini, Matteis and Couperin.
