The Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival doesn’t forget its roots, and its 27th edition visits Kraków once again. The cycle of Kraków events will be inaugurated on 23 March by pianist Łukasz Krupiński, winner of competitions in San Marino, Aachen and Hanover and finalist of the 17th Chopin Competition, with the conductor Jean-Luc Tingaud and the Beethoven Academy Orchestra (celebrating its 20th jubilee!); the artists will play works by Cherubini, On 24 March, the exhibition of music manuscripts at the Jagiellonian Library will be launched by a piano recital by, once again, Łukasz Krupiński, performing music by Chopin and Ravel. Works by the latter composer (Basque on his mother’s side) are also performed by the Basque National Orchestra, visiting Poland for the first time, under the baton of Robert Treviño. As well as Pavane for a Dead Princess and Bolero, on 30 March the Kraków Philharmonic also resounds with Mahler’s Symphony No. 5 in C sharp minor.
