World Music
He was a genius with many varied talents. As a child of a wealthy family of Jewish intellectuals he spoke several languages, painted and he was a violin and piano virtuoso. He rose to fame as a composer whose acclaimed march resounds during wedding ceremonies around the globe – all of which makes him the perfect subject of Felix Mendelssohn Music Days, a cosmopolitan event held in Kraków’s Kazimierz district.
The 12th festival features nine chamber concerts at the Center for Jewish Culture and an organ recital at the Dominican Church. The diverse programme of the event held between 12 and 21 May includes performances by musicians from Europe and the US. We will hear the acclaimed flautist Łukasz Długosz alongside the harpist Florence Sitruk, the Silesian Quartet expanded by a further two artists, the American pianist Genevieve Lee and the Spanish guitarist María E. Guzmán.
Don’t forget: global music in Kazimierz is full of classics!
