Keyboard to Heaven

Fryderyk Chopin, Bill Evans, Ray Manzarek... even though they inhabit completely different musical worlds, they are joined by the fact that they were all masters of the piano. On the 88th day of the year (hardly a random number, since that’s the number of keys on a grand piano), we celebrate a festival gathering fans of a variety of sounds enchanted out of the piano and other keyboard instruments.

The first Cracovian Piano Day lasts... four days, from 26 to 29 March. It starts with two club recitals at BAL in the Zabłocie district: the jazzman Kuba Płużek performs with three keyboards (piano alongside the electroacoustic Wurlitzer and Fender Rhodes), while Vitaliy Ivanov combines piano performance with the saxophone, sketching improvised musical portraits of random audience members. On the third day, the Magnus Music Shop resounds with music by Chopin performed by Mateusz Mateja. The organisers host the finale, filled with electronic experiments, at the InfraSound recording studio featuring the Weronika Mietelska Duo and Nikodem Dybiński.
