Kawiarnia Literacka, which sometimes doubles for a bookshop and a culture centre, is the perfect place for the book lover. Meetings with authors are held here so often that sometimes two are held simultaneously! The spacious main room is very attractively laid out; it is the work of designers linked to the Nowy Proxima Theatre operating in the same building. There are several thousand books on more than fifty racks with bookshelves. Comfortable armchairs and sofas invite you to read and talk over a cup of freshly roasted coffee, while the way through the shelves is truly labyrinthine. A place for your leisure, amusement, study, and meetings with friends and people you don’t know. You can also climb to the mezzanine, and from that hideout watch traffic on the street below through the huge windows or play board games in the room specially set up for that purpose. A separate room with a stage is earmarked for the organisation of meetings with authors, debates, concerts, and other cultural events.
