This year’s Misteria Paschalia Festival takes a bow to French Baroque traditions. Premieres of masterpieces which fell into oblivion for centuries and dazzle with new brilliance in 21st-century Kraków provide a veritable musical feast and serve as testimony of our own culture: we will listen to music from Paris, from Venice, from London, from Vienna… And the Austrian capital is also in focus in early April: Vienna Days in Kraków introduce the city’s contemporary side and its world-famous dedication to the quality of life of its inhabitants, which Vienna has been sharing with our own city for many years.
Easter is late this year, which means April launches us straight into a hot season of events. Hot on the heels of the Misteria Paschalia Festival, activities in Kraków UNESCO City of Literature focus around the World Book Day celebrations. The day also marks the start of the International Festival of Kraków Composers, with the International Jazz Day lined up next… The annual KRAKERS weekend is perfect for taking a stroll round the city’s galleries, while the premieres at many of Kraków’s venues and spectacles of the Festival of Ukrainian Theatre mean a trip to the theatre is just the ticket. Finally, at the end of the month the Netia Off Camera festival kicks off – a long-awaited meeting of creators and fans of independent cinema and the first instalment of numerous film festival and events which will be keeping Kraków busy in the coming weeks.
