The 19th instalment of the Festival of Polish Music is coming soon! Five July weekends will warm us not only with the summer weather, but also with the best music from Polish composers from the 16th to the 20th centuries and some world masterpieces – all performed by a line-up of excellent artists.

The inauguration concert will bringFerenc Liszt's Sa,ve Regina from the oratorio Saint Stanislaus interpreted by the Sinfonietta Cracovia orchestra  and Fryderyk Chopin's Piano Concert No. 1 in E minor by Hungarian virtuoso János Balázs.

The next concert will be filled with works by Józef Michał Ksawery Poniatowski (on the 150th death anniversary of the artist), Stanisław Moniuszko, Henryk Wieniawski, and Ignacy Jan Paderewski. The early music will be reppresented by compositions of Sylvius Leopold Weiss, a Baroque lute master connected to the Sobieski family. We will also celebrate excellent artists: harpsichord player Elżbieta Stefańska and organist Jaroslava Tůma.

We will hear music ranging from early to contemporary, works known the world over and those still waiting to be discovered, expansive vocal and instrumental compositions and chamber music and duets… But the diverse repertoire has a white-and-red common denominator. Because this festival hasn’t been created to argue that Chopin is better than Liszt, Moniuszko more interesting than Smetana and Szymanowski more important than Vaughan Williams. Its organisers simply show that Polish music is fascinating and worth listening to.
