The “Cracovia Danza” Courtly Ballet takes us on its annual journey into the past!
This year’s edition of the Festival is bonded with the title „Stars, Planets, Cosmos and the Court Dance”. The Festival is inspired by the celebration of the 550th anniversary of Nicolaus Copernicus’s birth and is designed to reflect the principles of his heliocentric theory within the art of dance. Throughout all festival events, Cracovia Danza will be promoting the figure of Nicolaus Copernicus and his great contribution to the science of Astronomy. French ensemble HeliosKine will perform a dance of planets and showcase choreography of dance masters from the Baroque era, such as the famous „Chaconne de Phaëton” to the music of J.B. Lully. Indian group Sanskriti Alaknanda from New Dehli will present a cosmic dance program in line with the style and technique of Kathak (Indian classical dance).
In addition, Cracovia Danza Court Ballet will perform a play Planets Moved by the Dance, which refers to the European visions of the cosmic universe from the times of Nicolaus Copernicus.
