Four Different Worlds…
…and the universal language of music! The Kraków Philharmonic welcomes back the 4 Traditions Festival, exploring the sounds of the Russian Orthodox Church, Judaism, the Middle East and Christianity to remind us that in centuries past, these diverse cultural circles intertwined and mingled in Poland. They are Lesya Dychko’s Solemn Liturgy, written more than 20 years ago, but still fascinating with its novelty and originality, a concert by Klezmorim Trio, polyphonic music from Georgia performed by the Basiani ensemble, and Karolina Cicha & Spółka’s project Karaim Music Map. The festival finale resounds with Bolesław Szabelski’s Concerto grosso, Andrzej Panufnik’s Sinfonia sacra penned for the celebrations marking the millennium of Christianity in Poland (on the 60th anniversary of its compositions) and Piano Concerto by Józef Koffler, Poland’s first composer to employ dodecaphony, featuring a solo part performed by Adam Kośmieja.
