The International Organ All Souls Festival resounds with concerts by virtuosos of the instrument, commemorating the event’s patron, Prof. Jan Jargoń – organist, composer and restorer of organs who passed away in 1995. The programme features music from the Renaissance to contemporary, with a focus on César Franck marking the bicentenary of his birth (the acclaimed performer, improviser and teacher was known to his students as Père Franck), Moniuszko marking the 150th anniversary of his passing (the composer’s adventure with music started with organ lessons when he was eight years old) and Johann Kuhnau, Bach’s predecessor as the Leipzig cantor, marking the 300th anniversary of his passing.
