Everything has its time, and there is an appointed hour for all things under heaven… In March, Capella Cracoviensis echoes the words of Ecclesiastes with performances of concerts written for Lent. One of the is the cycle Responsoria written for Tenebrae by Carlo Gesualdo. In the late Renaissance, the composer was pushing the boundaries of tonality – similar dissonances and chromatics weren’t heard again until the late 19th century!
