One of Poland’s major festivals of contemporary music, a meeting point for the classical and the alternative, a site of musical breakthroughs and breakaways—is going out and hits the town. Overcoming its temporal boundaries, it extends in all directions of time and space—to reach out and meet. After all, culture is a means of communication. Contemporarily it tells us more than ever about ourselves, and musically it speaks more than anything else to our emotions, intuitions, experimenting with our sense of time. Losing us and then finding us again, the music reveals new dimensions of human sensibility. When combined with other media, it gives tropes and signs for anyone to discover their own way.

The series, one we conceived and are now presenting in partnership with Sacrum Profanum, is an invitation to four encounters. Exploring freely the territories of 20th-century music, we break free from our traditional musical education, to dive into electronic or ambient music, to face textual and visual matter, and to look for new identities in the chaotic now of the present. We invite audiences to meet the women of music (Saunders / Zubel / Glojnarić / Bauckholt), and the men too (Blecharz / Shlomowitz / Mykietyn / Cage). We arrange live and lively exchange with people of the theatre / popular music / literature. We practice, as any musician does—but then we go out, all ears and eyes wide open, eager to interact.
