The National Museum in Krakow has organised many interesting exhibitions presenting items from private collections. The opportunity to see works that cannot be seen on a daily basis returns thanks to the presentation of works of avant-garde art from the collection of Jan Lubomirski-Lanckoroński.

On the hospitable threshold of the Józef Czapski Pavilion, you can see excellent works by outstanding representatives of the world of avant-garde, starting with the classics such as Salvador Dalí, Joan Miró, Pablo Picasso and Le Corbusier, through representatives of the post-war CoBrA group, including Pierre Alechinsky, Karel Appel or Corneille, and ending with artists related to American pop-art and European street art, such as Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Blek le Rat and Banksy – to name the most recognised artists. It is worth remembering that Józef Czapski, the eminent patron of this space, was an artist who was extremely open to all the novelties in art throughout his creative and active life. He appreciated the search for avant-garde artists and their original vision of the world.

This artistic diversity is linked not only by the fact that all the exhibited works were created after World War II and represent the achievements of leading avant-garde artists, but also the technique of the works, which usually consists of various forms of graphics (linocut, serigraphy), as well as a paper substrate. Most importantly, the selected works perfectly document almost all the important artistic phenomena appearing in the art of the 20th century.
