Double Concerto in A minor for violin and cello was Johannes Brahms’ last symphonic work, premiered in 1887. For the last 10 years of his life, the composer focused on chamber and solo music. He penned the Double Concerto in A minor for his two friends: violinist Joseph Joachim and cellist Robert Hausmann. They both took part in the first performance of the concerto with an orchestra led by Brahms himself. At the Kraków Philharmonic we will hear Joanna Konarzewska and Rafał Kwiatkowski in the solo parts. The soloists will be accompanied by the Kraków Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Marek Pijarowski; the evening will be rounded up by Franck’s Symphony in D minor.
