The oboe came at the suggestion of his father who also was a musician (he wanted to end the conflicts and rivalry between young Ramón and his elder sister). Next thing we know, he does everything on a high note. He decided to become a professional musician when he was 15 and went on his first tournée with East-West Divan Orchestra under the baton of Daniel Barenboim. At the age of 19, he got his first orchestra position: at the Bavarian Radio Orchestra. He has won numerous competitions and prizes, including ECHO Award (twice, if you should ask).
An outstanding Spanish oboist Ramón Ortega Quero will be the guest of Sinfonietta Cracovia in the next instalment of the Stars with Sinfonietta cycle. The programme of the concert comprises Baroque (Bach) and Romantic (Mendelssohn) oboe, as well as some works for strings coming from Polish composers.
The concert inaugurates Ramón Ortega Quero’s international tournée with the Cracovian orchestra.
