Sinfonietta Cracovia open the 2021/2022 season with a very special meeting: with Chopin and Polish participant of the upcoming Chopin Competition. Before Aleksandra Świgut i Andrzej Wierciński play in front of the competition jury, they present to Kraków audiences Chopin’s Concerto in E minor arranged for piano and strings. It’s worth mentioning that such chamber renditions were close to the heart of the composer himself, as he favoured the intimate atmosphere of the salon to great concert halls.
The orchestra complements the programme with part I of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 and Bach’s Grosse Fuge – also in string-only arrangement.
L. van Beethoven Symphony No. 5 part I arr. for strings
F. Chopin Piano Concerto in E minor (version for piano and strings)
L. van Beethoven Grosse Fuge in B flat major Op. 133 arr. for string orchestra
Andrzej Wierciński – piano
