In spite of the current circumstances, vast instruments refuse to fall silent in churches and the fans of organ music are as plentiful as ever. The 29th International Summer Organ Concerts Festival 2021 resounds in Kraków once again!
Events open with a recital by artistic director of the festival Dariusz Bąkowski-Kois, presenting music by the 20th century composer Marcel Dupré on the 50th anniversary of his passing. The Church of the Holy Cross resounds with music by early masters from all over Europe, including Scheidt, Hassler, Muffat, Froberger, Pachebel, Bruhns, Buxtehude, Sweelinck, de Arauxo, Gabrieli, Pasquini and Galuppi, interpreted by Piotr Michalik, Małgorzata Trzaskalik-Wyrwa, Nicolò Sari from Venice and Evan Bogerd from the eminent Westerkerk in Amsterdam. The Pauline Church welcomes Michał Markuszewski showing off his improvisation skills and Jörg-Hannes Hahn performing works by György Ligeti who passed away in 2006, while the Carmelite Church resounds with Roman Perucki’s performance of J.S. Bach’s choral prelude Vater unser im Himmelreich and Mendelssohn’s Organ Sonata based on the same theme. Let’s immerse ourselves in their sound!
