MOCAK has been presenting works by successive generations of artists who shape contemporary art in Kraków for several years. Each instalment of the cycle leads us to ever older artists; this time, the exhibition Artists from Kraków. Generation 1950-1969 explores works by world-famous and lesser known artists, including Bogdan Achimescu, Bogusław Bachorczyk, Zbigniew Bajek, Andrzej Bednarczyk, Tamara Berdowska, Tadeusz Boruta, Robert Bubel, Halina Cader, Marek Chlanda, Marek Chołoniewski, Ignacy Czwartos, Wojciech Ćwiertniewicz, Marta Deskur, Alek Janicki, Krzysztof Klimek, Stanisław Koba, Wojciech Kopczyński, Piotr Lutyński, Krystyna Orzech, Marcin Pawłowski, Lech Polcyn, Artur Przebindowski, Adam Rzepecki, Zbigniew Sałaj, Łukasz Skąpski, Jacek Sroka, Grzegorz Sztwiertnia, Artur Tajber, Tomasz Jerzy Vetulani, Wojciech Wilczyk and Alicja Żebrowska. They all grew up under communism, and during their time at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow they studied under professors who shaped its legend. Although they have common roots, the exhibition does not impose any thematic boundaries and instead focuses on the vast diversity of techniques and styles. We will see paintings, drawings, photos, objects, installations and video recordings of performances. (Dorota Dziunikowska, “Karnet” monthly)
