Gioacchino Rossini's The Barber of Seville is the opera buffa, considered to be the unsurpassed pattern of the genre. It is also the composer's most known and loved work, consisting of beautiful music, a great script and "inexhaustible resources of theatrical humor," as Piotr Kamiński writes in the book A Thousand and One Opera.
Musical management of this opera performance is exercised by Tomasz Tokarczyk, and the direction is a work of outstanding theater and film actor, director and teacher Jerzy Stuhr. This lover of Italy, the local culture and art, had his directorial debut in the musical theater on the Krakow stage. His Don Pasquale by G. Donizetti enjoys unflagging popularity to this day. This time, his and Tomasz Tokarczyk's workshop again receives a comic opera - The Barber of Seville, which is a display of both composing mastery and wit. It is also a work that is teeming with famous musical themes and "hits" of the whole genre.
