All Kraków is joining in with the Children’s Literature Festival at the Manggha Museum (11-16 June)! As well as reading aloud sessions, the festival also includes workshops, meetings with authors, film screenings, exhibitions, concerts and an urban game. The extensive programme is centred around the festival motto “To the Source!” – the organisers stress that literature provides essential knowledge about the world, inspires other artistic activities, and, most importantly, is a source of fun and entertainment! We will hear about the secrets of writing children’s books from guests Taro Miura and Katsumi from Japan and Verena Reinhardt from Germany, and authors and illustrators form Poland including Marcin Wicha, Michał Rusinek, Grzegorz Kasdepke, Marta Galewska-Kustra, Katarzyna Bogucka and Marianna Oklejak. The event is accompanied by the exhibition Kon-Kon! Masters of Japanese Picture Books organised with the Manggha Museum. The festival culminates at the ICE Kraków Congress Centre with a gala presenting the Ferdinand the Great Prize for Best Children’s Book of 2018. (Anna Mazur)
